WHAT’S HAPPENING: From April 20 until June 26, 2015, the Trans-Canada
Highway is being repaved west of the Town of Banff, from the Sunshine
interchange to west of Castle Junction. The work will take place between 7
a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, excluding Statutory Holiday long
weekends.
The repaving will require lane closures and one lane in each direction will
remain open throughout the project. Traffic delays are expected to be less
that 20 minutes. Arrangements are in place to allow safe and timely passage
of emergency vehicles through the work site.
WHY: The Government of Canada is investing heavily in transportation
infrastructure throughout Parks Canada. Repaving the Trans-Canada Highway
will ensure this crucial transportation corridor remains safe for motorists
and an important driver of the Canadian economy.
